As the spring weather approaches, many of us may be making changes to our routines. An important change I like to make when a new season approaches is preparing my skin! Even subtle changes in our skin care routine can make a difference in the way our skin looks and feels. Check out 5 tips I recommend for a healthy and beautiful spring glow!
HYDRATION – I personally believe that this is the most important tip! Keeping your body and your skin properly hydrated will only do good things for you. Proper hydration can benefit your body in many ways regarding your stomach health, skin health, and cholesterol regulation (to only name a few). Aim to drink the recommended daily intake of 8 glasses of water a day. Another way to keep your skin hydrated is with a light moisturizer or a facial mask. I believe it’s important to switch out your heavy winter moisturizer with a lighter one because it might feel too greasy in the rising temperatures. Another effective hydration method is facial masks (one of my favourites). Make them at home or pick some up from your local drug store! SPF – This is a tip I always have to remind myself of and is definitely very important! I just recently started to mix my SPF into my moisturizing routine (which I should have started years ago) and I do this with my EltaMD UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40. SPF is important on even the gloomiest of days…just apply an SPF as a base to your make-up or bare face. Most people often forget about this important step, but it’s vital to reduce your risk of skin cancer (especially if it runs in your family) and to keep your skin looking young.

EXFOLIATION – Find a gentle exfoliator that will not irritate your skin and make sure you don’t over do it. I like to exfoliate once a week with a basic body wash and my exfoliating bath gloves then finish off with a moisturizer.
DIET AND EXERCISE – Last but not least…it’s important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine! Regular exercise, whether it’s 30 minutes a day or more, promotes healthy circulation which helps keep your skin looking healthy and vibrant. In addition to a great exercise routine is a healthy diet! Don’t spoil all that exercise you did with greasy and unhealthy food, which in some cases, are a huge cause of acne break outs.
