Valentine’s Day is around the corner, which means it’s the perfect time to cuddle up and watch a movie! Since Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, watching romantic movies with your significant other is a great way to save a little money or wind down from a day of activities. Check out a few of my favourite romantic movies to watch at this time of year!

P.S click the movie title hyperlink in each description to watch the movie trailer.

The Notebook (2004)

Need I say more? haha. I’m sure this movie is on every girls ‘favourites’ list! In case you don’t know what it’s about… The Notebook is a 2004 romantic drama film about a poor and passionate young man falls in love with a rich young woman and gives her a sense of freedom. They soon are separated by their social differences.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)

I can’t even tell you how many times I have watched this movie!! I absolutely love it. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is a 2003 romantic comedy film which stars  Matthew McConaughey as Benjamin Barry, an advertising executive and ladies’ man who, to win a big campaign, bets that he can make a woman fall in love with him in 10 days. Kate Hudson as Andie Anderson covers the “How To” beat for “Composure” magazine and is assigned to write an article on “How to Lose a Guy in 10 days.” They meet in a bar shortly after the bet is made.

Never Been Kissed (1999)

Who doesn’t love Drew Barrymore? Never Been Kissed is a 1999 romantic comedy tells the story of young copy-editor-turned-reporter Josie Geller, who goes undercover at her old high school to find out what illicit things kids in 1999 are up to. Her editors at the Chicago Sun Times are looking for a juicy story, but they wind up getting a very fun teen comedy with a dash of a love triangle.

The Proposal (2009)

This is my all time favourite movie ever. I love Sandra Bullock & Ryan Reynolds!! The Proposal is a 2009 romantic comedy film about a pushy boss (Sandra Bullock) who forces her young assistant (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her in order to keep her Visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada. Love love love it!!

The Longest Ride (2015)

This is one of my new favourites! The Longest Ride is a 2015 romantic drama film that follows the connection between Luke, a former champion bull rider looking to make a comeback, and Sophia, a college student who is about to embark upon her dream job. As conflicting paths test their relationship, Sophia and Luke make an unexpected and fateful connection with Ira, whose memories of his own decades-long romance with his beloved wife deeply inspire the young couple.

The Best of Me (2014)

It’s really hard not to love a Nicholas Sparks film, am I right? The Best of Me is a 2014 romance drama film about a pair of former high school sweethearts reunite after many years when they return to visit their small hometown. Seeing each other again after 20 years apart reignites the love they’ve never forgotten, but Amanda and Dawson soon discover that the forces that drove them apart when they were younger pose even more threats today. Sooooooo good.

Pretty Women (1990)

Pretty Woman is a 1990 romantic comedy film about a man (Richard Gere) in a legal but hurtful business who needs an escort for some social events, and hires a beautiful prostitute (Julia Roberts) that he meets… only to fall in love.

The Age of Adaline (2015)

This movie comes second to The Proposal for my all time favourite movies! One reason is because I love Blake Lively!!! The Age of Adeline is a 2015 romance drama film about a young woman, born at the turn of the 20th century, is rendered ageless after an accident. After many solitary years, she meets a man who complicates the eternal life she has settled into. If you haven’t watched this movie yet… WATCH IT! 🙂

Valentine’s Day (2010)

Ok so I just had to add this to the list haha! Valentine’s Day is a 2010 romantic comedy which stars an abundance of celebrities to tell the story of intertwining couples and singles in Los Angeles break-up and make-up based on the pressures and expectations of Valentine’s Day.

Chasing Liberty (2004)

Chasing Liberty is a 2004 romantic comedy film about the President’s daughter (Mandy Moore), unable to experience life like a normal 18 year-old, escapes from her entourage of Secret Service agents while traveling in Europe. She falls in love with a handsome British stranger, who also happens to be working undercover for her father.

The Wedding Planner (2001)

This is one of those movies you can watch a million times and still enjoy it just as much as the first time you watched it (at least in my opinion). The Wedding Planner is a 2001 romantic comedy which follows Mary Fiore, San Francisco’s most successful supplier of romance and glamor. She knows all the tricks. She knows all the rules. But then she breaks the most important rule of all: she falls in love with the groom.

Sweet Home Alabama (2002)

I have watched this a million times and I could watch it a million more….Sweet Home Alabama is a 2002 romantic comedy about a young woman who’s reinvented herself as a New York socialite must return home to Alabama to obtain a divorce from her husband, after seven years of separation. I love anything with Reese Witherspoon and Patrick Dempsey haha!
