Binge Watching Addiction

Alright, so, I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets addicted to watching back-to-back episodes of a TV series until you’ve literally run out of episodes?!

I thought I would share some of my favourite shows that I like to binge watch, perfect for those of us rushing into Winter break! All of the TV series mentioned below can be found on Netflix… but in the case you don’t have a Netflix account, you can definitely find them on DVD or stream them online! 🙂

Dexter (2006 – 2013)

Dexter is one of my all time favourite television series!! If you haven’t yet watched this  and you love a good mystery drama series then this is your show! Here’s a little plot summary of the show : Dexter Morgan is a Miami-based blood splatter expert who doesn’t just solve murders; he commits them too. In fact, he’s a serial killer — but he only murders the guilty, so he feels justified with his lifestyle choices. This show went on for an amazing 8 seasons, I highly recommend you check it out 🙂

Gossip Girl (2007 – 2012)

I have never met a teenage girl who has never watched Gossip Girl… and if you’re the one person who hasn’t watched it, I highly recommend it! One of the main reasons why I watch this show is because of Blake Lively… she is goals on every level! Here’s a short overview of the show: High school is over for the privileged former students at an exclusive prep school on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, but Gossip Girl still shares text-messaged scoops on scandals and heartache.

Gilmore Girls (2000 – 2007)

I can’t even tell you how many times I have watched this TV series!! I absolutely love it! I can’t wait for the Netflix Revival of this show, super excited!! Here is what the show is about: Set in a storybook Connecticut town populated by an eclectic mix of dreamers, artists and everyday folk, this multigenerational drama about family and friendship centers around Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter, Rory.

Glee (2009 – 2015)

Glee. My latest find, and my new love! I used to watch the occasional episode when the show first came out but decided to give it another try  about a month ago. I can’t get enough of the show, it’s bad! Here’s the thing, I get really attached to TV series… and this particular series broke my heart (I know, sounds stupid) multiple times!! If you have watched the show, you know exactly what I’m talking about! Here is little summary of the show: Optimistic teacher Will Schuester heads up McKinley High School’s glee club — New Directions — a place where ambitious and talented students can find strength, acceptance and their voice. As the students find themselves, they also enjoy a respite from the harsh realities of life.

Friends (1994 – 2004)

One of the greatest shows of all time, in my opinion! I’m sure every has seen at least one episode from this series, and I’m sure you loved it! For those who haven’t seen it, here is the plot overview: Three young men and three young women – of the BFF kind – live in the same apartment complex and face life and love in New York. They’re not above sticking their noses into one another’s businesses and swapping romantic partners, which always leads to the kind of hilarity average people will never experience – especially during breakups.

House of Cards (2013 – Present)

This is one of my favourite Netflix Originals! I am in love with Kevin Spacey’s character, even though he is a very corrupt man… Here is a short plot overview: U.S. Rep. Francis Underwood of South Carolina starts out as a ruthless politician seeking revenge in this Netflix original production.

Scream (2015 – Present)

Along side House of Cards, this is also one of my favourite Netflix Originals! I originally thought this was going to be a horrible show, but took a chance on it and became obsessed! I finished the first season in 24 hours… serious bingeing. Definitely looking forward to the second season premiering in April 2016! Here is the plot summary:  A TV series adaptation of the hit horror film franchise. Instigated by a cyberbullying incident that goes viral, a brutal murder in Lakewood stirs memories of a crime spree from the town’s past that has haunted some, intrigued others and maybe just spawned a new executioner. At the center of the story is a group of teenagers — with two old friends struggling to reconnect at its heart — who, says the network, “become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets and victims of a killer who’s out for blood.” Highly recommend this if you love the horror genre!

The Walking Dead (2010 – Present)

The Walking Dead has been one of my favourite shows since the beginning! It is currently on it’s sixth season, and I really have no idea how they will end this show haha! But I will continue to watch it until the very end! Here is a short summary of the show: Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, this gritty drama portrays life in the weeks and months following a zombie apocalypse. Led by police officer Rick Grimes, his family and a group of other survivors find themselves constantly on the move in search of a safe and secure home. But the pressure each day to stay alive sends many in the group to the deepest depths of human cruelty, and Rick discovers that the overwhelming fear of the survivors can be more deadly than the zombies walking among them.

How To Get Away With Murder (2014 – Present)

Ahhh! I love this show! It’s currently on it’s second season, so if you want to start watching it…start now! All you have to do is read the title if you want to know what the show is about… but here’s the plot anyways! Annalise Keating (Oscar-nominated,Tony-winning actress Viola Davis) is a brilliant, charismatic and seductive professor of defense law, who teaches a class called How to Get Away With Murder. Annalise, also a criminal defense attorney, selects a group of students — the best and the brightest — to assist with cases at her firm alongside her employees. Mysteries arise that tests everyone’s limits and reveal dark truths.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed! ❤  Comment below with any shows you like to binge watch! 🙂

p.s stay tuned for some holiday themed posts in the upcoming weeks xx

  6. How to Get Away with Murder is DEFINITELY the best show on TV right now. I am counting down the days until the winter premier- I think it’s Jan 28th! I’m also obsessed with House of Cards- that should be coming back soon I think too! As for Dexter, there will always be a special place in my heart for that show. My all time favorite, I liked it better than Breaking Bad (which was also awesome). I was in a definite show hole and had a hard time when it ended. There were so many episodes it felt like it was going to go on forever, and I wish it did! How did you feel about the ending to Dexter??? I’ve heard mixed emotions about it.

    1. Haha girl!! We are so similar!! Dexter is my all time favourite television series!! I actually hated the ending though… Like so much. I think the part that ruined it for me was when Deb died and he put her body in the ocean!! And I can never forget when Dexter left Harrison with Hannah (I disliked her from the very beginning haha). Of course I don’t think they had many options for an ending that everyone would enjoy! But I love it enough to have watched the whole series three times since it finished!!

  7. I loved Scream and How to Get Away With Murder too!! It’s back on Thursday 🙂 So glad I came across your blog. Except all your Christmas-y posts are making me miss the holiday seasons xx
